Chelsea see off Dortmund to reach Champions League semi-finals

Chelsea Progress to Champions League Semi-Finals After Beating Dortmund 2-1

On Tuesday night, Chelsea secured their place in the semi-finals of the Champions League with a 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund. The London club held a 3-2 advantage from the first leg and sealed their progression with a professional performance in the second leg.

Chelsea started the game brightly, with Mason Mount coming close to opening the scoring early on. However, it was Dortmund who struck first, with England international Jude Bellingham scoring a stunning goal after dispossessing Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

Despite going behind, Chelsea remained calm and composed, continuing to play their patient, possession-based style of football. They were rewarded for their patience just before half-time when Christian Pulisic scored against his former club to level the scores on the night.

In the second half

Chelsea continued to control the game, with Dortmund struggling to create many clear-cut chances. The Blues' dominance was rewarded in the 85th minute when Mason Mount scored a superb goal to secure the victory and send Chelsea through to the semi-finals.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel was full of praise for his team's performance, saying, "We deserved to win, we deserved to go through. We had a strong first half and created some half-chances, then conceded out of nothing. But we reacted very well and didn't lose confidence."

Tuchel also singled out Mount for his excellent performance, saying, "He has the quality to do this, and he stepped up in a crucial moment."

The win over Dortmund is a significant step forward for Chelsea, who are looking to win their first Champions League title since 2012. They will now face either Liverpool or Real Madrid in the semi-finals, with the first leg set to take place on April 27th or 28th.

Overall, it was a fantastic performance from Chelsea, who showed their quality and resilience to come from behind and secure their place in the last four of Europe's premier club competition. The victory will give them confidence and momentum as they continue to challenge on multiple fronts this season.
